We started the day on a local walk from the camp along Annie Creek - a wet, very green riparian corridor in an otherwise dry environment. We were rewarded with sightings of the elusive Purple Crowned Fairy Wren, which is as spectacular as it sounds. After lunch by the Alcock River we headed to Diamond Gorge for our canoe adventure. It was awesome! We had hired a canoe and spent the afternoon traversing various connected gorges with extraordinary geology - folds, cracks and layers galore. Apparently, these rocks are amongst the oldest on earth - up to one billion years old! We landed a few times for a look around. The weather was a little bizzare. It was very overcast and very windy (which made canoeing one direction pretty challenging). Dinner at the restaurant was braised pork with fennel and apple sauce, accompanied by a Matso's ginger beer and a bottle of Tempranillo. Tough camping at Mornington Wilderness Camp
